How To Treat Diarrhea In A Type 2 Diabetic Patient?

Hello sir, My younger sister is type 2 diabetic ( age 28 yrs) . she is suffering from diareaha ( since today afternoon) and had been taking electral powder to prevent dehydration and some homeopathy pills as well. Tomorrow she will be travelling to vaishno devi. Pl suggest medical aid for the same. Thanks...

Welcome to HCM,
I read your query and i appreciate your concern regarding this issue.

I would ask for some details:

1. As she is diabetic so what is her blood sugar status?? is it controlled or not?
2. How many episodes of loose stool is she passing in a day??
3. Diarrhea is watery or semisolid? Any blood in it?
4. Is there any episode of vomiting??
Electra powder contains Glucose so she should avoid it or use according to sugar level.
For Symptomatic relieve I would suggest you
Take lots of fluids( water, juices).
Take Metronidazole thrice a day for 5 days,
Take Zinc supplement once a day for 10 days,
Take ecobion sachets once a day.
Report to hospital if:
Condition remain same after 2-3 days
Any unusual symptom appears
Condition deteriorates.
