My daughter is 17 years old she was diganosed with costochondritis 2 years ago. In the begining her pain was awful but manageable. We have have been to the top leading doctors and hospitals Miami has to offer, they all feel they can t do any more for her. She has tried all kinds of perscriptions, injections nothing works. We tried pain management a complete waste of time . Is there a clinic or hospital that specializes in this area and could find answers so crying her self to sleep is no longer the option
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. Costochondritis is inflammation of rib cartilage. Along with painkiller medicines, she needs to follow certain lifestyle modifications for better symptomatic relief. So follow these steps. 1. Avoid heavyweight lifting and strenuous exercise. 2. Avoid bad postures in sleep. 3. Avoid movements causing pain. 4. Sit with proper back and chest support. 5. Apply warm water pad on affected. 6. Wear rib belt or chest belt to prevent mobilization of painful area. Believe me, she will be alright in 2-3 weeks if she follows these steps. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wishing good health to your daughter. Thanks.
