How To Treat Constipation?

Male 52 years
I had a catether removed 2 days ago after surgery for a stricture in my urethral canal.
I feel constipated and when I tried to have a body movement, some bright red blood came from my penis.
I am drinking 2 litres of water daily as directed in a gradual manner. But after I stop drinking 2 or 3 hours before bedtime, I have a burning pain like my bladder is full, but only a small amount of urine will come out usually.
Any advice greatlyappreciated. The idea of having the catether re attached fills me with dread.
