How To Treat Cold And Flu?

my partner has had a flu like cold 4 several months. he is out of breath & says it tastes like something burnt wen he coughs. he has a heart condition & cronic severe pain from nerve damage 2 his spine, so id on a high dose of painkillers (paracetamol). he smokes & worked blue asbestos without a mask many years ago

Hi,
Your partner seems to have all exposures ( asbestos, smoking) that is harmful to respiratory function.
There is all the possiblity that he has developed recurrent allergic cold symptoms due to exposure to asbestos fibers /smoking.All the chances of allergic bronchitis supplemented by heart problems must have taken him to a great suffering.
How ever specially the type of sputum he has needs a through examination & nesessery investigations to exclude condition like Mesanthelioma- which is a hazard of exposure to asbestos fibers.
He also needs treatment for his allergic bronchitis after consulting a chest specialist & also the investigations suggested by him.
Usually specific antibiotic,broncho dialater ( oral/nasal inhalation), anti allergic pills,steroids if indicated,with cough syrups are given to such patients.
To were mask while working with asbestos/to leave the job, to stop smoking are the preventive steps for good health.
