How To Treat Chronic Pain After Multiple Injuries From Accident?

I am trying to find a specialist that can treat my 28 year old granddaughter who suffers from severe chronic pain secondary to multiple injuries from a car accident in 2007. She has had more than a dozen surgeries on her ankles and is now beginning to suffer additional problems because of her altered gait. Her age and her Medicaid / Medicare status have worked against any comprehensive plan for managing her pain so she can focus on her life. Every referral has led top frustration and disappointment. Hope some one can help her because she is verging on susicidal.

Hi,

The location and movement of a pain gives clues as to what is going on. Orthopedically, something with the ankles that could be done better even if it is just braces. Methadone is one option for intractable pain that has good supervision. Tens, other local therapies for very localized pain, even nerve ablation.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
