How To Treat Blisters Caused By Tearing Of Skin On Sun Burn?

My 7 year old son got a sunburn on his shoulders yesterday. It was not a really bad burn - at least I didn t think so - but today his swim shirt that he wore to protect the burn rubbed it and pulled the skin loose. He now has blistered shoulders oozing clear liquid. What should I do to help and protect him?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

1. Make paste of hydrocorticosone cream and neutriderm moistuirser, then apply twice daily on the affected areas.
2. Use broad spectrum sunscreen after 10 a.m., all over sun exposed areas, even the kid is indoor.
3. Use only cool water for rinsing.
4. Report to a dermatologist for physical examination as soon as possible.

This may help him.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sandeep Golla
