How To Treat An Injury On Chin?

My son had an injury to his chin last night and he received twelve stitches. Should we be covering it with a gauze pad with polysporin on the pad or just the pad and nothing else? Should we be cleaning it with anything or keeping it totally dry? Since it is on his face he is very concerned about scarring.

Hi.
As per your complains my advice is-
1. Cover the stich marks by applying an antibiotic cream like fusidic acid cream and applying a surgical gauze piece.
2. No need to clean it...just keep it dry.
3. Don't worry about scaring at present. It will take about 12 weeks to have the final picture of how much scar will it remain.

Thanks.
