How To Treat A Stye Causing Swelling And Redness In The Upper Eyelid?

I have a stye which I have put compresses on. It still has a little pus left. I have had it for over a week and it did a lot of draining before. For two mornings now I have woken up with no drainage; however my upper lid is swollen and reddish on top and my eye is irritated somewhat. Could I have put too hot a compress on in the past? I am trying to now only put warm compresses like I was supposed to. I gave my eye a rest yesterday because I was afraid I burned it.

Hi,

You don't have to use very hot compresses and take one or two days break. You can use painkillers to help reduce swelling.

Then you can use diluted tear-free baby shampoo on a cotton ball, washcloth, or makeup remover pad. Thenafter, rinse your eyelids with warm water and gently pat them dry.

Also, be sure to wash your hands before and after touching the stye, and don't share your towels or washcloths with others.

Best regards
