How To Treat A Skin Disorder In Which The Skin Resemble Like Snake S Skin?
My friend suffers from some type of disease, supposedly inherited by his Mother, where his arms and legs (mostly legs) resemble a snake s skin. He has had it all his life and it has gotten worse over the years. What could this be and is there a remedy?
Hello, Welcome to healthcare magic. Your friend seems to be suffering from a type of skin disorder called as Icthyosis. They are a group of skin disorders in which the skin fat is reduced to a great extent due to a genetic abnormality. Depending on the gene involved, there are various types, the most common being Icthyosis vulgaris, which is also the mildest type. The exact type can be made out only on detailed examination of the skin and its distribution over the body. He will benefit from using moisturizers on a regular basis. A moisturizer with urea and lactic acid in a petrolatum base will be good. He should avoid hot water baths and should use a soap free cleanser like Cetaphil cleansing liquid instead of bar soaps. Hope this helps you. Take care.
