How To Treat A Painful Earache And Headache In A Child?

My five year old son has a painful earache in his left ear and a mild headache. It has been bothering him for most of today and he has been only partly responsive to the children s acetaminophen (80mg). We gave him two tablets at 3:30 and one at 6:30. Would a single Equaline sinus headache PE tablet be appropriate? thank you for any advice.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hello. Thank you for your question. For most children, Children's Ibuprofin works better than Acetaminophen. It would be worth a try. Additionally, if the pain persists for more than 48 hours, I recommend consulting with a doctor. Though this may be viral and will resolve on it's own, it could also be a bacterial ear infection or sinus infection, which may require antibiotics. Your doctor will be able to make the correct diagnosis and implement an appropriate treatment plan.
