You should have mentioned your age, your family size and the size & site of the fibroid.
However, this firoid seems to be quite troublesome for you. You Hb has reached quite a low level; i.e. 10 gms%. That means you are bleeding substancially due to fibroid. So it is more likely that your fibroid is at least partly within the utrine muscles.
In such case, you do need surgical intervention. There are mainly two types of surgical interventions for Fibroid utertus. One is removal of the fibroid and leaving the uterus behind - what we call as Myomectomy. This is performed in women who still are desirous of having children.
The other intervention is removal of the fibroid alongwith the uterus - Hysterectomy.
Either way can be done by either open surgery or through telescopic method - Laparoscopic surgery.
Considering the problem of heavy bleeding you are facing, if you have completed your family, if you are 30+ years of age, I would advice you to go for removal of the uterus with the fibroid so that later on the chances of new fibroids formation is eliminated. If you still are keen on having children, you can undergo myomectomy.
Of course the scope and type of surgery should be decided on the site, size and extent of fibroid alongwith your desire to have more children and your age.
Before doing any type of surgery on fibroid, it is advisable to examine the lining of the uterus (endometrium) for any changes of cancer. There is corelationship between the fibrois and cancer of the endometrium since both of them are dependent on a hormone called as estroge.
