I have a sore in between my little toe and the toe next to it. I thought it was a blister but I am not sure. The skin around it is all white now. The initial hole was about the size of the tip of my pinky finger. I've soaked in Epson salts, used antibiotic cream (OTC) and used tea tree oil. It's been about 2 weeks and it has not healed. It is still very painful and it hurts to wear a shoe. What should I do?
The lesion in web area between little toe and fourth toe woudld be most probabably candidal intertrigo. It is a fungal infection caused by candida albican. This is a common site for this infection. It is a contagious skin disease. Blood tests may be done to rule out DM,ANAEMIA,HIV,internal diseases, nutritional deficiencies and IMMUNOCOMPROMISED CONDITIONS. You consult dermatologist for perfect diagnosis and treatment. I advise in patients having such disease following treatment. 1) to take antifungal like ketoconazole daily one tab for 2 to 3 weeks 2) to take antihistaminic like levocetirizine 5 mg at night 3) to take short course of antibiotics 4) to apply antifungal cream like clotrimazole cream twice a day 5) to cleanse the area with dettol containing water
You might improve after few weeks of treatment. I hope you got my answer.
Thanks.
