Addiction Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hi,

I cannot say in your particular case. sometimes the nerves just are attacked by either a virus or autoimmune disease BUT sometimes it can be a more serious condition at the base of the brain and it is an indication for a CT scan. These nerves have the capacity to grow back, however.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
