Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am transitioning a patient to clonazepam from xanax, and wanted to be sure I can do a quick conversion. 1mg bid, to a dose of clonazepam in the am. I believe a 2 mg TDD of xanax is equivilent to 4 mg clonazepam. Can I make a direct conversion of do I need a cross taper?
Would explain that you can switch directly to Clonazepam as they are both benzodiazepines, which show their action rapidly. So, there is no need to gradually taper the dose.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
