How To Stop Pus Discharge From Toenail After An Injury?
I have been using one of those hoverboard segways and I was being an idiot and pushed the top of my toenail into a cabinet and it turned black and blue it s been like that for 5 weeks and now its oozing brown liquids for on the base of the nail please help???
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain it seems that there has been injury to the soft tissues present in the nail bed and there has been ruptured blood vessels leading to bruising and turning of the nail black and blue.
The discharge of brown liquids from the nail bed seems to be infection in the nail bed and you need to consult a General Surgeon and get evaluated.. In case of infection he can advise you antibiotics like Sulphamethoxazole and Trimethoprim, anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen.. In case if the nail plate is detached from nail bed removal of the nail plate under local anaesthesia has to be done.. Cleaning the area with antiseptic solution and pressing gently to remove the infectious fluid followed by application of an antibiotic ointment and a steroid ointment can help..
Also avoid trauma to the nail and prevent exposure to water and dust..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards, Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
