Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hi Ms. Sneha,
I can understand what you might be going through. Your husband is definitely suffering from alcohol dependence. The problem is until he is willing himself, it will be difficult to treat him. It would be advisable to take him to a psychiatrist and regular sessions to enhance his motivation can be tried. He can be given medications (benzodiazepines) to take care of withdrawal symptoms of alcohol. In addition there are medications like acamprosate and naltrexone which can reduce the craving for alcohol.
Hope your husband recovers well and soon enough. Best wishes.
