Hi Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...
When you have been taking
steroids for a longer time your
adrenal glands no longer produce cortisol( the natural corticisteroid hormone) to fight illness and cope with
stress. This explains the inability to respond to acute physical stress.
So corticosteriods like
Prednisolone should be tapered slowly( Under guidance of your physician), so that adrenal glands start producing cortisol naturally.
Below 10mg daily prednisolone should be tapered very slowly, 0.5 -1 mg dose should be reduced every week. In this case 1mg tablets are useful. If you have symptoms like joint pain, low energy, sweating your dose of prednisolone may need to increased a little bit.
Refer to your physician for consultation.
Don't worry you would be fine
Hoping your query is solved
