How To Rule Out Trichotillomania?

Hi, im 31 and id say for 10 yrs at least ive been combing through my hair with my hands and trying to get lose pieces to come out. As i got older i was doing it all the time, sometimes noticing, and sometimes doing it when im stressed. I never individually pull out the hair but comb through again and again til im happy. I do not eat the hair. I grew up with ocd so im I was wondering if this is a symptom of ocd or maybe be considered trichotillomania.

You have a trichotillomania variant as the symptoms described by you suggest a behaviour pattern which is persistent and results in gratification. Are you otherwise anxious or stressed out. You may do well to practice meditation which will relieve the anxiety component. In case you do need medical help you should take help of a behaviour therapist and a psychiatrist who will prescribe anxiolytics to help you
