I have a sebaceous cyst on my neck and it got a bit big in 2 days. I m trying to do it on my own as I ve done it a while back before and it has worked, however since this one is bigger I might have a concern. My question is can I pop that cyst with a clean needle and extract all the nastiness the cyst has?
Hello. Thanks for writing to us at healthcaremagic
Sebaceous cyst is best removed in its entirety along with the cyst wall, under local anesthesia. Popping the cyst with a needle is not recommended because it might introduce infection thereby causing the cyst to become painful. Moreover the cyst would reform itself if it is not removed entirely along with its lining wall because the lining wall contains sebaceous glands which secrete all there contents into the cyst and would cause the cyst to reform. I would suggest that you visit a general surgeon in your region for the needful.
