I had the shingles for 5 weeks and have now developed postherpetic neuralgia. I have had side effects to every imaginable medication prescribed so far. Is this ever going to end? I am 77 yrs. old otherwise in good health, never smoked, never drank alcoholic beverages. I am 5'3 and my weight is 120 lbs. WHAT CAN I DO? i AM TRULY DESPERATE.

Dear- thanks for using our service, I understand your concern and frustruation.Post herpetic neuralgia can be very painful and last few months. You can use vitamin B1 ,B6 and B12 to help the healing of the nervew. There is medication like Gabapentin that can give you a relieve of the pain. I will advise you to see your doctor to get this treatment. Analgesics as ibuprofen can help but sometimes are not strong enough to control it.
I hope that my advise has been helpful
