How To Reduce Hair Fall?

I am having a problem with thinning hair. I am a 63 year old women. my hair dresser told me I should take biotin. but at what dose amount there are a lot of different mcg? Will it help with my hair? also I have brittle nails that break and peel. Other wise I am healthy.

Hello and welcome to healthcaremagic.

Taking casual advice from a hair dresser is not a good idea. Biotin is not a solutions for all the kinds of hair fall. It anyways does'nt work well if it is not addressing the cause of hair fall.

In my view you most likely seem to have a condition called Androgenetic alopecia(female pattern type) which is amenable to treatment with topical 2% minoxidil and oral antiandrogen e.g finasteride rather than just biotin.
