Hello Ehsan and welcome.
I am extremely touched to see your concern for your wife. She is indeed lucky.
About her low blood counts. Your query does not mention about her
hemoglobin and hemogram. If you have not done it please get it done.
If the problem is low hemoglobin ( anemia ), first the type of anemia must be determined. The commonest cause is
iron deficiency anemia accompanied by
vitamin deficiency. The peripheral smear test will help in this.
Other causes of anemia like
sickle cell disease or thalassaemia will be ruled out by a Hb
Electrophoresis test.
If the cause is iron deficiency she will need
ferrous sulphate tablets. Common brands in India are dexorange, fersolate CM and many more. They must provide her with 100 mg elemental iron per day. She needs them for 3 months. Along with this tablets of Bcomplex vitamins are very helpful as usually diet has defect in both. Injections of iron and vitamins help to fill up the iron needs of the body quickly and are found to be extremely effective. A dose of antiworm like
albendazole is given as worms in intestine commonly cause iron deficiency. So discuss all these with your doctor and begin treatment.
A diet rich in green vegetables, salads, carrots, tomatoes, and fruits like apple, water melon, oranges, papaya or any seasonal fruit daily is advisable. A serving of meat is also advised to help provide protein for building up the hemoglobin.
The aches and pains will go away as her condition improves and also her urine infection goes away.
If however the cause is sickle cell or thalassaemia the treatment will be different and you must consult a physician to discuss that.
I must also advise about the repeated abortion at 10-15 weeks. One of the cause for these is a weak cervix. A stitch may be applied on the cervix to prevent such abortion and is called os tightening. Discuss this with your gynecologist as soon as possible and if needed get it done.
I hope this helped.
Thanks for using HCM.
Have a good day.
