How To Recover From Recurrent Anxiety Attacks?

Hi doctor. I am 27yrs and married for last 3 months.

I am working in software field in bangalore. I am regular drinker and used to take 4 to 5 pegs a day. also smoker(around 10 to 15 cigarettes per

day). Before 1.5years i got my first anxiety attack when i was working(when deeply frustrated about some peoples actions). My temper started to

increase and after few seconds i was not able to control and i had palpitation sweating and breath problems. I went to hospital and took the

tests and medications. After this, i continued to get anxiety attack and went to a doctor who prescribed (10mg szetalo daily in the morning and

revotril 50mg in the night). Also prescribed to take equilibrium when anxiety attack comes. I was also advised to take revelol xl 50 in the

moring for bp and also TGR 160 in the night as i have around 300 triglyceride

but as time went, whenever i get anxiety attacks, equilibrium medicine will not reduce my bp and i started to take losarcar25mg additionally.

This is helping to control the anxiety attacks. but the frequency of attacks increased in last couple of months. Also i am in a very tight

scheduled project. i used to get anxiety attack whenever i am getting frustrated. Also i am very sensitive and short tempored.

After reading some articles in the net i came to know that, i have some symptoms of OCD. also i have stage fear. the problem is whenever i am

focused i feel restless and my breathing increases and feel like trembling. and the same symptoms happens when i got temper also.

Past medical history.

I was 2 times admitted in re-habilitation centre for stopping tobacco chewing. I have successfully stopped tobacco chewing but i discontinued

some of the medicines without medical consultation. I have used it over 5 years. I have been drinking and smoking for past 7 years.

I am currently not able to concentrate on work also I cannot control my daily timings. I am late sleeper and i used to get lot of dreams. usually

i wake up very late and with a feeling that i didnt sleep at all.

could you please advise me on how to recover from these problems, if there is any?.

it will be great help if you could help me.

We understand your concerns

I went through your details. You should know that alcohol and nicotine always are bad for anxiety disorder. You should discontinue smoking and alcohol. From the description, it is clear that your anxiety and panic attacks are due to work pressure. Stress from work is a common affair and you should learn to master it.

Being passionate in your work is one way to enjoy your work. Keeping a work and life balance is also key. Smoking and drinking is strictly NO nO. You should consult a psychologist for Cognitive Behavior Therapy which helps you to understand your anxiety and teaches you to manage your anxiety. Nothing to worry. You should be alright. Please do physical exercises.
