Hi doctor,First of all my name is jinu Varghese residing in uae. Iam a pharmacist by profession. To be honest , I used to smoke , and for the last 17 years iam smoking. I started drinking also . on a daily basis I used to drink , around 2 - 3 pints only . Smoking iam controlling now. I am in a part of quitting it . Before I used to smoke around 15 cigs /day been reduced to 6-7 cigs/day. Now my father was also a chronic smoker and drinker. But my health conditions are fine. I used to check my blood and lipid profile and occasionally I used to scan my liver. Everything is perfect. Except triglycerides which is only due to smoking. My sgot/ sgpt all are fine. So in my mind , if I quit smoking and drinking , I will be a perfect man. So I need ur advice like , if I stopped smoking , what type of activities can I be involved with. I used to play badminton on a daily basis for around 2 hours. My weight is 78 kg and height 174 cms. Iam 35 now. Can you advice me , some good fruits to be taken so that to slowly quit this bloody habit.Moreover , I do have a good family , I don t want to hurt them ,just becoz of my bad habits. My father died of heart attack , and recently two of my friends also died .They are dead becoz of some other reasons. To be honest all these haunts me. Iam in a speedy procedure to stop all my bad habits. How abt joining gym . So please clarify. Don t make me depressed. Regards Jinu C Varghese
