How To Prevent Gangrene Caused Amputation?

hi, I am Nilesh Khatri. My mom is suffering from systematic scleroderma. Last month due stoppage of Blood supply in small vessels cause gangrene in her leg & it got below knee amputated. Now the problem is the second(left) leg is showing 2 fingers black but the rest of the leg is not that black, seems dry gangrene. I am worried that i will loose the second leg too. Please suggest. She is currently for hyperbaric oxygen therapy at vikhroli godrej hospital & also there are some complications in healing ampuated leg like pus, poor blood flow. Please suggest some treatment to save second leg & also heal the wounded leg

Hi, Nilesh. Have you got a CT Angiograpghy done for the lower limbs? Then only can we suggest whether there is any possibility of salvage of the toes, foot or limb. You should consult the treating Doctor about the chances. I can advice you once I see the CT report. If the toes are turning black, they might require removal or amputation but the same can be done depending upon the report which will tell us till where the blood supply is good, whether the problem is bypassable or manageable by Endovascular techniques like stenitng, etc. In order for me to advice you best you should send me the CT report and I can advice you completely. You can do the same by posting a query on my profile page, or ask Customer care how to contact me, or leaving a query on 'Ask a specialist' section of the website. Hope to hear from you soon. Take care,
Dr Rishi, New Delhi, India.
