How To Overcome The Pimples Appearing Around My Chin?
So I have been getting pimples appearing around my chin sometimes near to my lip but never on it that are not your normal white heads but more a fluid filled pimple sometimes itchy over the last few months. I was wondering and asked my gp several times if they could confirm if they were coldsores but never got a definitive awnser and they never offered me the option to test for hsv. I know have had a break out of itchy pus filled pimples all over my body a few months later and was diagnosed with folliculitis and am know wondering could this have been the cause all alone of these on my face. I have also had a long term problem with my nose where there has been a constant sore in it that has never healed for the last few years. So not sure if it is all connected or if I do suffer from cold sores but unluckily came down with folliculitis. Te ones on my chin don t look like anything in pictures I have seen off cold sores and are tiny in size. They never look like blisters just more a little red pimple with fluid rather then a Normal spot or whitehead.
Hello, Welcome to healthcare magic. From the history and description, the possibilities I would consider for the eruptions around your lips and chin are Perioral dermatitis and Acneiform eruptions. Perioral dermatitis can occur as a reaction to certain creams, toothpastes, steroid containing OTC whitening creams, etc. It could sometimes occur without any of these triggering factors also. You need to take a course of oral Doxycycline 100 mg by mouth after a prescription from your doctor. It will clear in 4-6 weeks. Use a moisturizer after it clears. Avoid steroid containing cream to clear the lesions as they will recur once the steroid is stopped. Acneiform eruptions will also benefit from oral doxycycline. In addition , you can apply a gel containing 1% Clindamycin once at bedtime. Cold sores generally do not last for a long time. They can recur after completely subsiding. In case you want to confirm, you could do a serology test for HSV 1 IgM. HSV 2 IgG test can be positive in 80% of the population and it does not indicate any active infection. Hope this helps you. Take care.
