I would suggest you get an X-ray to ascertain that there is no minor fracture, then the treatment changes. If there is no fracture then we expect a recovery with painkillers and local heat/ Ice in about 10 days unless it is a severe injury.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

I hit my hand on a table a week ago. I ve been icing and wrapping it and although the swelling has gone down, it seems that the plate covering my knuckle has been pushed back? It s on my right pinky finger. I can still move my pinky, but limited range down. It sticks up fine, just can t touch my palm.

Hi, I recently got into a bare knuckle fight. I ended up hitting the opponent in the back of the head. Almost instantly, my hand began to swell up (not too much, but about knuckle height) the day after I could flex the pinky finger. However, extending it caused a minor pain. It s been 3 days since the incident, my hand is beginning to lose the swelling and the pain is slowly beginning to go away. Is my finger broken? Or is it just deep bruised? I feel pain in the fleshy part of my palm (nearest the pinky finger) once I apply pressure.

I fell and hit my hand pretty hard against the ground. I have bruising and swelling on my knuckles and top of my hand. I am able to bend my fingers into a very loose fist and even type this message. I am unable to grip a pen well and even the slightest touch hurts. Should I go to a doctor?
