How To Overcome Alcohol Addiction?

Hello Doctor
I am from India. I recently got married. My husband says to me that he needs to drink two beer yesterday. But I am health conscious. I need my husband to maintain good health. I said no to him. This is the second time i am saying no to him in 8 months. I am very much afraid about his future. He is 33 years now. He has started drinking from 18. He has drunk all types of alcoholic beverages. He is also a chain smoker for more than 15 years. Now he stopped almost but not completely. I am afraid that already his inner organs would have started to decompose. If I allow him to take beer after this, will he be with me life long with good health. I want him to be of good health forever. What should I do??? Please suggest me.

Hello,
welcome to Healthcare Magic.
You are worrying for your husband is good but he should understand your feelings also that you want him to be healthy forever.
Alcohol and smoking both together are deadly combination for health.
They cause lung problem, liver problem, stomach problem, cancers of almost all the organs, brain damage, sexual problems etc.
There is no end of this list.
If he is quitting now, then health will improve a lot.
Please advise him not to drink alcohol or smoke.
Certain de-addiction centers are available which help you.
Please consult your psychiatrist for more support and guidance.
Hope this will help you.
Have a healthy life ahead.
Take care...
