How To Make A Drug Abuse Person Comfortable In Emergency Situations?

My son is 32. he is in treatment for pain pill abuse. he is being treated with methadone. he has ben in treatment for just over a yr. due to a snow storm here in Indiana he could not get to the clinic today. any suggestions on keeping him more comfortable till tomorrow when hopefully the clinic will be open

I understand that you are worried about your son since his follow up to the Methadone clinic is delayed due to unforseen circumstances. Methadone is a medication with a relatively long 'half-life' - about 36 hours average. This means that even if he misses a dose of Methadone, it is unlikely to cause any major withdrawal symptoms.

So, I would advise you to reassure your son about this fact so that he can stay relaxed. Also, ask him to drink plenty of fluids and take proper rest till he gets to see the doctor tommorrow.
