hello i am just wondering how i can lower my blood pressure more.....i am 24 years old and a couple of years ago i was put on 25mg of metoprolol when my doctor found that my blood pressure was 190/85 it had taken my pressure down to usually 135 to 145/70 but recently it has been staying up between 145/75 to 165/79. i am just wondering if i should ask my doctor to give me a higher dosage or what? i eat healthy and i exercise along with my job that is working outdoors... i do smoke cigarettes and drink alcohol. what do you suggest?
Stopping alcohol use and smoking will both help you to control your blood pressure. However, it is best done under supervision of a psychiatrist who will prescribe you detoxification regimen to quit alcohol. Trying to stop alcohol without detox can rise your BP to dangerous levels. You may need to consult your physician who is treating your BP as your BP is not adequately controlled.
