How To Heal Knee Injury?

Hi, I m a trail runner and recently hurt my left knee. I ve completely stopped running for the past two weeks, taking anti-inflamitory, ice, etc. Yesterday the area that is hurt started itching and today there is a rash in the spot. I ve always been able to work through running injuries but I ve never had one that is ichy and developed a rash on the skin. Suggestions? Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to the injury.

I suggest using anti-inflammatory medications such as Acetaminophen to relieve the pain.

I also recommend using ice compresses at the are of the injury.

The area should be immobilized to prevent further damage.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
