How To Get Rid Of Pain And Swelling In The Arms, wrists And Hands?

My mother in law is 85 and in a nursing home. She had hip replacement May 17 and has healed from that. However she has acute dementia and is complaining of extreme pain, swelling of the arms, wrists and hands and has a feeding tube. Can lack of quality nutrition and protein cause swelling and pain in the extremities?

Hi thanks for contacting HCM,

Yaa, protein deficiency may lead to swelling in extremity but not pain. Please check blood pressure as increased blood pressure might be led to swelling and pain. After hip replacement, thrombosis in veins or arteries may be led to this type of complaints so u have to consult doctor for further investigation.
