How To Get Rid Of Pain After A Rib Fixation Surgery?

I broke right side ribs all and 6 on the left side, flail chest. I had rib fixation surgery after on of my broken ribs punctured my lung. I had 3 right ribs fixated by plates. Now the skin is painful to the touch. I also have a good size knot near where rib #2 meets the sternum and have felt it pop with extreme pain, what can I do to get rid of the constant pain?

Pain Medicine & Palliative Care Specialist 's  Response
Hai.rib fractures are really very much painful.due to multiple nervous innervation
Tat too added with lung injury & flail chest is really very sensitive
U hav to follow slow deep breathing exercises (not vigorous)
Pain control with opiods will be helpful
Earlier to this u can start with tramadol or tapendetol twice daily, added painkiller like diclofenac+pain muscle relaxants like chloroxazone
Local application of pain relief gel will be of some help
To prevent gastritis please add up with antacids & ppi's
Regular physiotherapy &saline nebulisation will be of gud help
Take care
