How To Get A Hernia Treated?

Fifty yrs old female on 125 synthroid walk 3 miles everyday in 45 minutes and after one yr of taking synthroid noticed distension of stomach. Menopause, over 2 yrs no period. And painful sex. So tight no entrance. Also noticd in the groin area a feeljng of achiness. Recently had yr physical doctor suspects a hernia, I am going to digestive health for preconsultation for reg colonoscopy. Question is who do I go to about a hernia? I am scared to get the colonoscopy after reading about perforating the colon etc. bloodwork is normal on all of it

A general surgeon can repair a hernia if you have one, although it may take either a ct scan or an MRI of the abdomen to detect it.

The risk of colonoscopy is very small and I understand your concern but talk with the GI doctor about your worries
