I am 36 years old I quit smoking last yearm yet I have a difficult time not when other smokers are around. I smoked with a friend last night and today got a message for a job interview at a hospital that requires me to be smoke free or no job, is there anyway to flush the cotinine from my system? Hi,

Cotinine can be detected in the urine 2 to 4 days after last smoke, by the commonly used tests. If you can delay the test for a couple of days more, there is a strong possibility that you will not test positive. You should also drink lots of water to hasten the speed of cotinine excretion from the body. Since you have not been smoking regularly, you have a fair chance of testing negative. People who smoke regularly are likely to test positive for longer.

Best wishes.
