How To Diagnose Interstitial Lung Disease Causing Breathlessness?

HUsband was told he has some interstitial lung tissue. He has been feeling like he is not getting enough oxygen into his lungs. He does have an appointment with his regular doctor tomorrow but I was trying to find out if there was anything that would help at home in the meantime.

1. The most common cause of Interstitial Lung Disease [ILD] is idiopathic [not known] and commonest being Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis] and shortness of breath is the first symptom [present]

2. His attending physician might order following tests:

. Blood test for connective tissue diseases
. Bronchoscopy
. X-ray/CT Scan of Chest
. PFT: Pulmonary function tests

3. At home the best treatment and management will be rehabilitation: respiratory therapist will help you learn and teach about oxygen therapy.
