Hi Doctor , i have had TB 10 yrs ago and today i went with an xray to a doc as well as took an xray today. Both Xrays as per the doc do not show any scars. Is there any other way to find out if the TB had scarred my lungs? How can i make sure that my lungs are unscarred.
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic. I can understand your concern. Chest x ray is used mainly as screening tool. It is not 100 %confirmatory. Possibility of scar lesion is less in your chest x because your both x rays are normal. But to confirm it you need to get done CT thorax with Contrast. CT scan is having higher sensitivity and specificity in diagnosing scar lesion if present. So get done CT thorax. If CT is normal then no need to worry for scar lesion in lungs. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
