How To Cure Twitching Of Neck Muscle After Having Dialysis?

My father s neck muscles are twitching continously. He is on dialysis for four years now. The pulsation of neck muscles started a week back. It is not electrolyte imbalance, we checked. The jaw is opening and closing involuntarily. What would be the reason? The sodium, potassium and other mineral levels are fine. The clearence is also good, 53 urea after dialysis. Now he is taking a muscle relaxant without much effect.

Hi,

Muscle twitching after dialysis is due to lowered blood volume during dialysis. To manage this, patient should reduce fluid intake between dialysis so that less amount of fluid would be removed during process of dialysis and thus reduction in blood volume during dialysis would be lesser and so less cramps. Stretching of muscles would help the cramps.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
