How To Cure The Bloating Sensation On The Stomach After Taking Metformin?

hello.. just this past wednsday (05/21/14) I was prescribed 750 milligrams of metformin (substituted for Glucophage xr) to be take at dinner time 2 large pills. I am currently taking the medication prescribed by my obgyn for fertility issues. since then my stomach has ballooned and it quite uncomfortable. I feel very constipated and can hardly eat from feeling full all the time. my question is how can I get rid of the excess bloating that is going on in my tummy???? please help not sure what to do.. thanks Felicia dallas,tx

thank you for contacting HCM.

metformin causes diarrhea and bloating. most times it gets better in a week or so. try and take a laxative to see if this helps. do not take lactulose as it can cause of gaseous vloating. try senna or docusate or miralax.

keep well hydrated at these times.

if you are not abe to tolerate, notify your doctor.
