How To Cure Swelling Of Leg Caused Due To Replacement Of Bile Duct Tube?
My Husband was diagnoised with pancreatic cancer two years ago this month and given 4 to 6 months to live at that time. He did chemo for 6 months, 4 days a week, 2 years ago. Right now he is on heavy meds for the pain, (pain pump) and has a bile duct tube in which is changed every 3 weeks and getting harder to change. Yesterday his feet swelled up and he has been in bed ever since. I m wondering what we can expect in the near future. We have RN s every day to check him. Please any answer would comfort me. Thank you
Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns. There are several issues to be discussed here. The fact that bile duct tube is hard to replace may suggest the progression of tumor size and compression of it externally. It may lead to liver failure and reduced protein levels and reduced protein levels will cause leg swelling. It is hard to prognose the lifetime but generally the prognosis is poor if my presumptions are right. He should check albumines levels and have it corrected if these are low and if tube wont be possible to exchange then palliative surgical bypass may be an option, if he will be able to stand surgery... Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.
Wishing you good health.
