Approximately a year ago, I awoke one morning and felt like I had just gotten a bad sun burn on my back. I consulted a dermatologist who just looked at my skin with a magnifying glass and said: sun damage I am 79 years old; have not been in direct sunlight or had a sun burn in over 50 or 60 years. How is it that at my age I am feeling this sensation? Since the onset of feeling the burning skin sensation on my back, I now have it all over my body to the point I am reduced to tears...............it is so painful. Is there ANY solution to this? What is the etiology of this condition? I am a retired RN.
I have gone through your complete query and can make out that you are presently suffering form acute photo-toxicity.
I reassure you fully that this condition is seen quite too often so do not worry and get tensed about it.
I suggest you to do all measure of sun protection. Use a broad spectrum sunscreen with physical sunscreen in it and apply it for three times a day.
Additionally do cold compression on the affected area. Apply a cream containing mild to moderate steroid on it. An antihistamine can be take to reduce the itching. For that tablet cetrizine can be taken for 2 times a day.
