My husband has had a cold for almost two weeks. About 5 days after the cold, he had an intense headache where he was unable to focus and sleep. 2 days ago he started blowing blood out of his nose. Yesterday it was all blood. He s worried, I m worried. What could be the cause?
Hello, Thanks for posting in HCM. Longer duration of cold and nasal congestion are features of allergic rhinitis. Headache will be associated with cold and running nose due to sinus congestion. Bleeding from nose is due to rupture of tiny blood vessels in nasal cavity which will be swollen due to inflammation. If I were your treating doctor, I would have done a nasal endoscopy and taken a Xray of sinuses which would indicate the extent of sinusitis. Nasonex nasal spray would be helpful to reduced nasal congestion. Please take steam inhalation and ibuprofen 400 to reduced headache.
