How to cure bruise throughout the leg and into the ankles?

hi. I totaled my car about 3 weeks ago and have a sizable welt on my shin still. It s bruised and the remaining bruising from the initial accident has spread throughout my leg down into my ankles since then. Nothing major but definitely noticeable. The bump has yet to go down anymore. It still aches sometimes and the bump itself us still bruised. Is this normal after three weeks?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Based on the symptoms it does not look to be serious Injury. Bruise at the ankle is due to dependent swelling (edema) or gravity-assisted swelling secondary to Injury to the shin.

My suggestion for him is-

1. Rest that is minimal walking with limb elevation and Ice fomentation.

2. To reduce pain and swelling he should have Ibuprofen along with prescription-only drugs like trypsin/chymotrypsin to reduce swelling.

These Injuries are very painful to have and usually take 2-3 weeks to resolve.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,

For about a month and a half now, ive been getting unknown bruises on my legs. Ive not bumped them or anything. The bruises are also tender to the touch and there are visible lumps associated underneath the bruises as well. Something else I need to mention (this may be unrelated) is that i ve been experiencing severe ankle, knee and foot pain for about the same length of time. I m a 37 y/o female, 154 lbs, on no medications, and to date have had no medical problems. This is causing slight concern to me and I have no insurance to seek medical help.

Hi, I was at work a few weeks back and as I went to pick up a crate of bottles I didn t see the wooden platform the were on, it bruised quite a bit and I had a lump there for a couple of weeks. It also hurt a lot and still hurts as I put pressure on it. Also I knocked it the other day, only a slight tap and it bruised and became painful again but the lain hasn t lasted as long this time. I m the sort of person that doesn t bruise easily so I became a little concerned when I saw how quickly and easily it bruised.

3 days ago I fell on my knee on concrete. Slight bruising is beginning but on the second and third day after I notice my lower leg and ankle swelling. Today, from the knee down is really swollen. My fear is possible a blood clot? Trying not to go to the ER as I am uninsured.

5 days ago....I tripped and fell, with my chin bone hitting a piece of angle iron (on a trailer)...with most of my weight behind it. It was, of course, extremely painful and left what looked like a cut, but never bled. Although it doesn t look that bad from the outside, barely bruised, it is still extrememly sensitive to the touch and now feels as though it has fever...this is probably 2 inches below my knew, with the blow being directly on my chin bone....should I be concerned...seems silly to go to the dr. for a bruise.

My daughter is 16 , she has a bruise on her outer thigh about 2 inch in diameter. It s yellow and green in colour with a purple shape in the centre. Her bruise doesn t hurt at all . She had a little nose bleed today as well for the first time. If it s relevant , she had a painful bruise 2 weeks back in the same spot. She doesn t remember bumping into anything. Is there any cause for me to be concerned ?

Hi Doctor, My one month old baby stuck in the space between wall and the bed. Her body was on the bed and her face was below the bed with face facing downwards and she was on her tummy. It was found that her position was changed to rolling position from the normal lying back position when her head was stuck. she was crying badly and her face colour was blue. No swelling and no bruises were found on her face or head. After one week she started vomiting initially with little amount and then with high qantity and with high force. Later on, when she was 13 Weeks it was found that she had a chronic brain hamerrage but she needs no treatment, she was just kept in the hospital under observation for a week or so and her head circumference was monitered but she was perfectly fine and normal and was discharged with no treatment but just a routine and follow up check ups. Now she is 13 MONTHS old and her physical and mental growth is absolutely normal. My question is wheather that incident happened when she was just One Month can be a cause of her brain hamerrage and what is chronic brain hamerrage. And for her chronic subdural brain hamerrage its important that she must had any swelling or bruises on her face or head, which she didn t had at that time. Her head was stuck in the space between the bed and the bed but she didn t fall from the bed. And I want your expert opinion about my baby subdural brain hamerrage and what you think what would be the cause of her subdural brain hamerrage. And if that incident when my baby s head stuck between the wall and the bed is a probable cause of her brain hamerrage then why there was no visible swelling and bruises on her face or head. Or if the vomiting can be the reason of her brain hamerrage then kindly explain how? and whether that initial incident have any relation to that vomiting episode. thank you very much.
