How To Cure Bacteria In Stomach Causing Blood In Stool?

My husband has bacteria in the stomach and he took antibiotics a couple times. The bacteria was gone. He still throws up every morning. He has now started to poop blood once or twice a day. He is unable to finish a sentence without getting distracted and has the ability to stay focused for very long. He will have the same conversation over and over. He eats very little and smokes a pack or more of cigarettes everyday. He refuses to go back to the doctor because he claims what they give him "doesn't work". What do I do?
