How To Control SGPT Through Exercise And Diet?

Dear doctor,

I would like to seek medical advice on how to reduce my husband's SGPT. Last thursday he had his blood test on sgpt and the result is 121. He tried to work out on how to decrease this by exercise and eating only fruits and vegetables like banana, mango, pechay, chayote, carrots, sweet potato as rice substitute and drinking the juice of young buko fruit and its meat and pure bitter gourd juice. After 5 days he went to the hospital for a lab test on his sgpt and to our surprise it turns out to 158. We were expeting it to lessen but it becomes higher. Please give me some reasons why it becomes high. Was it the food he ate? If yes, which of these? Thank you so much.

Hello thank you for posting your query in HCM.
elevated levels of SGPT indicates abnormal liver functions. it can be due to fatty liver, cirrhosis, viral hepatitis, drug induced toxicity, obesity. The levels can be brought down by simple life style modifications and regular physical activity.
Have a healthy and balanced diet that should include complex carbohydrates like oats, brown rice, brown bread., high proteins like egg white, sprouts, soy beans, all kinds pulses, more vegetables, more fruits, low fatty foods. Plenty of water minimum 3 litres per day. Go for cardio exercises like brisk walking, running, swimming for 45 min a day,6 times a week, add strength training to it 4 times a week. Keep blood sugar levels under control if you have diabetes. Avoid alcohol, smoking, junk foods, deep fried foods, white rice, white sugar.
Wishing you good health.
