How To Confirm The Presence Of Diabetes?

I am not an diabetic. I am 62 and alot of my friends have diabetic because they are overweight. So I got scared and I got myself a blood glucose monitor. Being test in the 88-103-mostly in the ninties- with the fasting glucose. I have even tested by glucose after 2 hour eating and it always dropped back down to 100-110. I even got the new Bayer instant test for AC!-the reading was 5.3. Today, I just decided to test my glucoe right after I ate a very high sugar and carb

lunch- within 15 minuts I tested my glucose- my test showed 179-half hour after that 153 -then 2 hours later it was 105. I am scared now, because I spiked such a high reading right after the high carb and high sugar meal. Do non diabetes sometimes have a high reading right after a meal? My 2 hour measurements has always been good. Please explain to me beCAUSE i AM GETTING SO NERVOUS ABOUT THIS

Thank your for the query.
As per the information, you are 62yrs old (gender not mentioned) and on frequent self blood glucose monitoring.
First and foremost, I must ask you to stop checking your blood sugar, randomly and frequently. If you are scared of being diabetic, please get the following parameters checked from a standard laboratory- Fasting Blood glucose, 2hrs Post prandial blood Glucose and HbAic. Diabetes mellitus can be diagnosed, only if the following criteria are fulfilled. No other investigations are standard for Diabetes mellitus.
FBS more than or equal to 126mg%
2hrs PPBS more than 200mg%
HbAic more than 6.5%

Apart from this there is a status know as impaired glucose tolerance, or prediabetes (these subjects are prone to develop diabetes in future)
FBS between 100 and 125mg%
2hrs PPBS between 140 and 199mg%

If you are overweight, losing weight will definitely benefit you from all aspects. It is always better to avoid refined carbohydrates ans saturated fat in diet, both in diabetics and non diabetics.
Get your investigations from a laboratory, and if they are deranged consult your physician.
Hope this helps you out.
