How To Confirm The Pregnancy And Are HPT Kits Are Reliable?

hi my period is 3 days late can I be pregnant I had unprotected sex before last week and I took a pregnancy test at home it was positive I went to the doctors and they said its negative they said that there tester must be wrong so they told me to have a blood test I really want to conceive

Hi and welcome to HCM,

I understand that you had a positive HPT while the doctors said it was negative.

Urine pregnancy tests are very reliable and come positive about 3 weeks after the episode of unprotected sex or 7 days after the missed period. Sometimes the kits may be faulty and give a false positive or negative test.
If there is a doubt, you may retest using another kit of different company and may also take a blood test or an ultrasound at 5 weeks as it is more reliable.

Do not worry and just repeat the test using the first morning sample of urine and read the result within 3 minutes. If it is positive pregnancy is there.
