How To Confirm Ocular Migraine?

I just went to the eye doctor for what symptoms seemed to fit ocular migraine. She said no, but that the blood vessels behind the eye were very large and squiggly (which is nothing different from past test) and said to go to the medical doctor for a complete blood workup. That the blood vessels behind the eyes are not normal. My blood pressure is good 116/72. This occurence of jagged half circle lines (flashing & moving) just happened this past week for the first time in my life and has happend 3 times now. It clears up in about 30 minutes. Could it still be an ocular migraine and the blood vessel thing something different? Or is there a connection?

Hello,

I can also take it as ocular migraine. If you have ocular migraine you may get vision loss or blindness in one eye for a short time less than one hour. you can have it before or along with a migraine headache. Regular migraine attacks can also cause vision problems, called an aura, which can involving flashing lights and blind spots. However, usually appear in both eyes.

Vision problems that effect just one eye -these include migraine with an aura or a change in vision. It might happen for only a few minutes or up to 30 mins. Causes of migraine still are not clear but it can linked to:
_Spasm in blood vessels in the retina, the lining in the back of eyes
_Changes the spread across the nerve cells in the retina
Treatment may include:
_Drugs that treat epilepsy such as Valproic acid or Topiramate as per proscribed

Tricyclic antidepressants

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
