How To Confirm Ectopic Abortion?

Hi i had my IVF in 2010 August, after that i do get my periods as before 3 days prior to the last period date, then some times i get it a week ealier to my period date, right now i have got my periods on the expected date but no bleeding, only blood streaks with my discharge?, i am worried it could be an ectopic abortion as i had one ectopic surgery in 2009 May , had a block in my right tube, doctor just slit it and removed the block, then in 2009 december i did a Dye test andthe tubes were clear with spills. Please ?

Hallow Dear,

When you have ectopic pregnancy once, the chances of ectopic pregnancy do increase in the subsequent pregnancies.

Your expected menses were very scanty; hence you do have a reason to suspect ectopic pregnancy.

If there is ectopic pregnancy, the pregnancy test is positive (mostly weak positive where one line is faint); however, the ultrasonography shows empty uterine cavity. At such early phase, ultrasonography may not detect pregnancy in the tube. Laparoscopy may help to detect some evidence of pregnancy in the tube. If detected through Laparoscope, such ectopic pregnancy may be tackled by Laparoscopic micro-surgery.

If the ectopic pregnancy has ruptured, then there is bleeding in the peritoneal cavity and the Pouch of Douglas. Putting a needle between the vagina and rectum aspirates blood. This test is performed to diagnose ruptured ectopic pregnancy. This is a serious haemorrhagic complication which needs urgent surgical intervention with many units of blood transfusion.

I hope this will help you.
