my granddaughter got up in the middle of the night and decided to clean house. She had two cleaners out and was cleaning house. How do I tell if she drank any. I called poison control center they told me to give her water. it s been about an hour since I discovered her. What signs should I look for if she did ingest any?

Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Some of the symptoms may include abdominal pain, drooling, throat pain, vomiting and convulsions and burning around the mouth area and even visual loss if the cleaner touches the eye. Besides giving water, there is nothing that you should try to give her and if she develops vomiting or altered mental status even water should be stopped. Rest of the management should take place in the hospital.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammad Gul
